IPTV buffering? 7 checks that fix most problems

Varodatic Guides · 5 min read · Updated October 2026

A frozen picture at the worst moment is frustrating. The good news: most buffering comes from the home network and takes minutes to fix.

1. Test the speed where you watch

Your router may be fast while the TV in the bedroom gets a fraction of it. Run a speed test on the TV or stick itself.

2. Use a cable

A network cable from router to TV is the single biggest improvement. If that is not possible, a mesh system or powerline adapters help.

3. Restart router and device

Devices that run for weeks build up memory problems. A restart clears them and refreshes the connection.

4. Clear the app cache

Especially on a Firestick, clear the IPTV app’s cache and close apps running in the background.

5. Pause other heavy traffic

Cloud backups, game updates and big downloads compete with your stream. Schedule them for the night.

6. Switch the player

Apps like TiviMate and Smarters Player let you change the video player or buffer size. Try the alternatives.

7. Ask support

If nothing helps, message us. We check whether it is the line, the device or a single channel.

Quick test: if a channel plays smoothly on your phone but not your TV, the problem is almost always the TV’s Wi-Fi or the device itself.

Frequently asked questions

Why does IPTV buffer only in the evening?

More people are online in the evening. A cable connection and fewer downloads at home usually fix it.

Will a VPN stop buffering?

Only if your internet provider throttles video traffic. In most cases a VPN makes things slightly slower.
